First, A little info about the park

Monahans Sandhills State Park is located in Monahans, TX and is in two counties, Ward and Winkler counties. It is about two and a half hours from Lubbock, TX. Five hours from San Antonio and roughly two and a half hours from the entrance of Big Bend National Park. The park is 3,840 acres of sand dunes and is in the southern Llano Estacado. It is the perfect location for an intimate and unique elopement.

Now as promised, Here are three simple tips

Tip One

Make sure You contact the park first.

It is important to contact the park first to give them a heads up of your plans. A special use permit is not needed for this park but there are certain things that they do not allow. For example: confetti is not allowed. Also, if you plan on having props, like an arch of large florals.

TIP TWO

Elope in the morning.

Eloping in the morning allows you to have a more intimate experience because there are typically (not always the case) less people early in the morning. Not to mention sunrise photos are absolutely stunning there. You also have the rest of the day for more adventures!!

TIP Three

Pick a Photographer that is familiar with the park.

It is beneficial to choose a photographer that knows the park. They typically have spots they know/like for the right lighting and a great experience. Also make sure you like their style! Don't just pick a photographer because they are the cheapest - pick them for the whole experience. You want a good one right?
